Ivor Strong Bridge Rehab

Alberta Transportation is performing rehabilitation on the Ivor Strong bridge on Deerfoot Trail. This work is beginning to wind down and lane restrictions are anticipated to be removed on Monday, June 20. Work however will still require lane closures and speed restrictions nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through June. Motorists are reminded to use caution when driving through the construction zone and expect delays.

Northeast

NEW: The left lane of northbound Edmonton Trail N.E. is closed between Meredith Road N.E. and 2 Avenue N.E. from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, June 24. This closure accommodates road work.

NEW: Various single lane closures on eastbound Airport Trail N.E. at Deerfoot Trail N.E. from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, June 24. This closure accommodates road inspection.

NEW: Various curb lane closures in all directions at the intersection of Falconridge Boulevard N.E. and Falshire Drive N.E. from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, June 24. This closure accommodates construction.

NEW: The right lane of westbound 39 Avenue N.E. is closed at 34 Street N.E. and the speed limit is reduced to 50 km/hr. beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday, June 25. This closure remains in place until 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 26 and accommodates water services utility work.

NEW: The left lane of northbound 36 Street N.E. is closed at 24 Avenue N.E. and the speed limit is reduced to 50 km/hr. beginning at 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 25. This closure remains in place until 12:30 a.m. on Monday, June 27 and accommodates work on a pedestrian overpass.

NEW: The right lane of eastbound McKnight Boulevard N.E. is closed between 12 Street and 19 Street N.E. from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 25. This closure accommodates construction.

NEW: Southbound Edmonton Trail N.E. is closed between 16 Avenue and 15 Avenue N.E from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 25. NEW: The right lane of the eastbound ramp from Memorial Drive N.E. to Barlow Trail N.E. is closed and the speed limit is reduced to 50 km/hr. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Monday, June 27. This closure continues daily during these hours until 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29. This closure accommodates equipment setup.

NEW: The right lane and adjacent sidewalk of northbound Edmonton Trail N.E. is closed at 4 Avenue N.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, June 27 and Tuesday, June 28. This closure accommodates construction.

The left lane and adjacent sidewalk of northbound Edmonton Trail is closed at Meredith Road N.E. from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily beginning on Monday, June 20. This closure continues daily during these hours until 3 p.m. on Friday, June 24 and accommodates construction.

Various left lane closures on Memorial Drive in both directions between St Georges Drive N.E. (Zoo LRT Station) and 28 Street S.E. (Franklin LRT Station) daily from 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. beginning on Monday, June 20. This closure continues daily during these hours until 2:30 p.m. on Friday, June 24 and accommodates LRT work.

Aviation Road N.E. is closed between Aviation Boulevard and 15 Street N.E. beginning at 8 a.m. on Sunday, June 5. During this closure, local business access will be maintained. This closure continues until 6 p.m. on Sunday, September 25 and is part of the McKnight Boulevard N.E. Widening Project.

There will be new traffic patterns on McKnight Boulevard N.E. between 12 Street N.E. and 19 Street N.E. beginning at 8 a.m. on Sunday, June 5. Westbound McKnight will be closed in this stretch and narrowed two-way traffic will be in place in the eastbound lanes. This work is part of the McKnight Boulevard N.E. Widening Project and will be in place through September 2016.

The right lane of eastbound 16 Avenue N.E. is closed at 1 Street N.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Wednesday, June 1. This closure repeats during these hours on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays through June and accommodates construction.

36 Street N.E. will be closed between 64 Avenue N.E. and Airport Trail N.E. beginning at 6 a.m. on Monday, May 16. During this closure, traffic travelling northbound on 36 Street N.E. will be restricted to local only access at 64 Avenue N.E. During this closure, traffic travelling westbound on 80 Avenue N.E. will be diverted to southbound 40 Street N.E. There will be no access to Airport Trail from 80 Avenue N.E. during this closure. Detours using Metis Trail N.E. around construction zone are recommended. This closure continues until mid-October 2016 and accommodates road widening by a developer.

Northwest

NEW: The right lane of northbound Crowchild Trail N.W. is closed north of Bow Trail S.W. from 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 23 to 1 a.m. on Friday, June 24. This closure accommodates bridge inspection.

NEW: Westbound Crowchild Trail N.W. is reduced to a single lane at Stoney Trail N.W. (Tuscany LRT Station) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, June 24. This closure accommodates work on a pedestrian overpass.

NEW: Southbound Brentwood Boulevard N.W. is closed at Brisebois Drive N.W. beginning on Friday, June 24 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. This closure repeats on Saturday, June 25 and Sunday, June 26 from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Southbound traffic will be detoured to Brentwood Boulevard N.W. while northbound Brentwood Boulevard N.W. will be maintained at Blackiston Drive N.W. to Brisebois Drive N.W. This closure accommodates utility work.

NEW: Westbound John Laure Boulevard N.W. is reduced to a single lane between McKnight Boulevard and 14 Street N.W. from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 25. NEW: Southbound 14 Street N.W. is closed between 21 Avenue and 8 Avenue N.W. nightly from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday, June 27 and Tuesday, June 28. During the closure, a two-way traffic setup will be in place in the northbound lanes. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes at Crowchild Trail N.W. and 10 Street N.W. and expect delays in the area. This closure accommodates work related to paving, for more information on paving visit Calgary.ca/paving.

NEW: Various single lane closures in both directions of Crowchild Trail N.W. between Bow Trail and 5 Avenue N.W. nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday, June 27 and Tuesday, June 28. These closures accommodate surveying work.

144 Avenue N.W. is closed between Centre Street North and 14 Street N.W. for roadway upgrades through November 2016.

The right lane of westbound 24 Avenue N.W. is closed between 23 Street N.W. and Crowchild Trail N.W. beginning at 7 a.m. on Friday, June 3. This closure continues through August 2016 and accommodates the construction of a retaining wall. During this closure, pedestrians will be diverted to the south crosswalk through the affected area.

Various single curb lane closures on 14 Street N.W. from 8 Avenue N.W. to 21 Avenue N.W. beginning on Monday, June 6. The closures will occur in various single northbound lanes between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. and various single southbound lanes between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. These closures accommodate concrete work and continue daily during these hours until Friday, June 24.

Various single lane closures on off peak hours at 16 Avenue N.W. and Sarcee Trail N.W. for interchange improvement work. These closures are expected to last until November 2016.

83 Street N.W. is closed between 33 Avenue N.W. and Bowfort Road N.W. until further notice. There will be no access to Bowness Road N.W. from 16 Avenue N.W. during this closure; use an alternate route.

Southeast

NEW: Various single lane closures on the southwest corner of 17 Avenue S.E. and 31 Street S.E. for utility locates daily from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, June 24. These closures accommodate borehole drilling.

NEW: The right lane of 12 Avenue S.E. is closed from Centre Street S and 1 Street S.E. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, June 24 and Monday, June 27. This closure also occurs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 25 and Sunday, June 26 and accommodates construction.

NEW: Southbound Centre Street S is closed between 7 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 25. During this closure, northbound traffic will be reduced to a single lane. This closure accommodates road work.

NEW: The two right lanes of 6 Avenue S.E. are closed at Centre Street from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 25. This closure accommodates road work.

NEW: The two left lanes of 6 Avenue S.E. are closed at Centre Street from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 25. This closure accommodates road work.

NEW: Various single lane closures on the southwest corner of 17 Avenue S.E. and 31 Street S.E. for utility locates daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 25 and Sunday, June 26. These closures accommodate borehole drilling.

During this closure, there will be flagmen directing traffic, and a two-way setup in place in the southbound lanes. Motorists are advised to expect delays and use alternate routes when possible.

NEW: The right lane of both northbound and southbound 52 Street S.E. is closed at Glenmore Trail S.E. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Monday, June 27. This closure continues daily during these hours, and also occurs from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 2. This closure accommodates construction.

NEW: 26 Avenue S.E. is reduced to a single lane in each direction between Highfield Road S.E. and Portland Street S.E. from 8 p.m. to midnight on Tuesday, June 28. This closure accommodates paving work, for more information on paving visit Calgary.ca/paving.

Starting at 7 a.m. Thursday, June 23 and continuing until the end of June, Dartmouth Road will be closed at 34 Avenue S.E. to allow for gas main upgrades. Traffic will be directed to use either Spiller Road or Macleod Trail to bypass the closure.

Centre Street is reduced to a single lane in each direction between 7 Avenue and 9 Avenue S.E. beginning at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22. This closure continues until 5 a.m. on Thursday, June 23 and accommodates water services utility work.

15 Avenue S.E. is closed between Centre Street S and 1 Street S.E. from 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22 to 5 a.m. on Thursday, June 23. This closure accommodates water services utility work.

The right lane of southbound and northbound 52 Street S.E. is closed and the speed limit is reduced to 50 km/hr. at Glenmore Trail S.E. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Monday, June 20. This closure continues daily during these hours, and also occurs from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 25 and accommodates construction.

Westbound 17 Avenue S.E. is closed between Centre Street S and Macleod Trail S.E. beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, June 13. This closure continues until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6 and accommodates Transportation Infrastructure work.

There will be various single lane closures on Glenmore Trail north of 52 Street S.E. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Friday, April 15. This construction continues daily during these hours on weekdays, and from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends. These closures accommodate construction and continue until further notice.

15 Street S.E. is closed between 42 Street and 46 Street S.E. During this closure, business access will be maintained. This closure continues through 2016 and accommodates major water services work.

Zoo Road will be closed until December 2017 to accommodate the construction of the Zoo Flood mitigation project. The 12 Street S.E. bridge will remain open to local only traffic.

Blackfoot Trail / 58 Avenue S.E. Intersection Improvements Project

  • NEW: There will be various single lane closures in all directions from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on Monday, June 27 to Friday, July 1.
  • NEW: There will be various single lane closures in all directions from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 2. Blackfoot Trail is already part of a construction zone with a reduced speed limit of 50 km/h, that will remain in effect 24/7 for duration of construction.
  • There will be various single lane closures in all directions from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on Tuesday, June 21 to Friday, June 24.
  • There will be various single lane closures in all directions from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 25. Blackfoot Trail is already part of a construction zone with a reduced speed limit of 50 km/hr. that will remain in effect 24/7 for duration of construction.
  • From now until late summer of 2016, there will be periodic lane closures and 50 km/h speed reductions at the intersection of Blackfoot Trail at 58 Avenue S.E. to allow for intersection improvements. Further information will follow as construction progresses. Macleod Trail / 162 Avenue Interchange project

  • NEW: Starting the evening of Sunday, June 26, access to southbound Macleod Trail from the shopping Centre located north of 162 Avenue S.E. will close to accommodate the next phase of construction. Traffic will be required to exit the shopping Centre at the west entrance on Shawville Boulevard and connect to either 162 Avenue S.E. or Shawnessy Boulevard to access Macleod Trail.
  • Starting the evening of Thursday, June 9, the access to southbound Macleod Trail from eastbound 162 Avenue S.E. will change. The existing ramp from eastbound 162 Avenue S.E. to southbound Macleod will close and traffic will be required to make a 90* right turn at the intersection, from a newly developed right turn bay. In addition, there will be some minor alignment changes to the eastbound lanes approaching Macleod Trail to accommodate the new right turn.
  • Starting the evening of Thursday, June 9, the access to eastbound Sun Valley Boulevard from northbound Macleod Trail will change. The existing ramp from northbound Macleod Trail to eastbound Sun Valley Boulevard will close and traffic will be required to make a 90* right turn at the intersection from a newly developed right turn bay (with the exception of large trucks which will be directed to use Midlake Boulevard as a detour). In addition, there will be some minor alignment changes to the northbound lanes approaching Sun Valley Boulevard to accommodate the new right turn.
  • Starting on Thursday, April 7, the access to westbound 162 Avenue S.E. from northbound Macleod Trail will change. The previous northbound Macleod Trail to westbound 162 Avenue S.E. exit will re-open, but operate as a single left turn only. The access to eastbound Sun Valley Boulevard from northbound Macleod Trail will remain as is on the existing detour ramp.
  • The dual turns from eastbound and westbound 162 Avenue S.E. to northbound and southbound Shawville Boulevard will be revised to single left turns starting Sunday April 3. An alternate access to the south end of Shawville Boulevard can be used via the southbound Macleod Trail exit ramp to 22X.

Glenmore Trail / Ogden Interchange

  • NEW: There will be various lane closures in all directions at Glenmore Trail and Ogden Road / Shepard Road S.E. from 19:00 Friday, June 24 and continuing through the weekend, leading up to a major traffic detour and traffic pattern changes on Sunday, June 26. There will be significant delays at this interchange and surrounding area on Sunday, June 26 to accommodate the implementation of the next stage of construction. Use of alternate routes is highly recommended.
  • NEW: On Sunday, June 26 the Shepard Road access south of Glenmore will close. There will be a new access created at 24 Street S.E. south of Glenmore Trail, west of the existing Shepard Road alignment. Traffic requiring to access Shepard Road south of Glenmore Trial will be detoured via the new 24 Street S.E. exit and then along 86 Avenue S.E. to reconnect with Shepard Road. There will be limited business access north of 86 Avenue S.E. on Shepard Road after detour in place. In addition, the eastbound lanes on Glenmore Trail will be re-aligned into the next stage of construction. The eastbound and westbound lanes will be separated with two new intersections created. Ogden Road will have some alignment shifts north of Glenmore Trail to accommodate these traffic changes.
  • Eastbound Glenmore Trail east of 30 Street S.E. will have trucks crossing roadway in off-peak hours starting Wednesday, April 27 and continuing until the end of May, for hauling material related to the Glenmore Trail / Ogden Road interchange project. Flagman crews will be on site to stop all eastbound traffic as required while the trucks cross roadway. Efforts will be made to keep disruption of traffic on eastbound Glenmore Trail to a minimum. Glenmore Trail is already part of a construction zone with a reduced speed limit of 50 km/h, that will remain in effect 24/7 for duration of construction.

Southwest

NEW: 10 Avenue S.W. is closed between 5 Street S.W. and 6 Street S.W. beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 24. This closure remains in place until 5 a.m. on Monday, June 27 and accommodates construction.

NEW: Southbound 14 Street S.W. and the adjacent sidewalk is closed at 17 Avenue S.W. is closed beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 24. During this closure, a two-way traffic setup will be in place in the northbound lanes. This closure accommodates construction and remains in place until 10 p.m. on Sunday, June 26.

NEW: Eastbound 10 Avenue S.W. is closed between 11 Street and 13 Street S.W. beginning at 6 a.m. on Saturday, June 25. A two-way traffic setup is in place in the westbound lanes. This closure remains in place until 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 26 and accommodates water services utility work.

NEW: The two left lanes of 11 Avenue S.W. are closed at 2 Street S.W. from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 25. This closure accommodates water services utility work.

NEW: Southbound 8 Street S.W. is closed between 8 Avenue and 10 Avenue S.W. and northbound 8 Street is reduced to a single lane between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 25. This closure accommodates Transportation Infrastructure work.

NEW: 25 Avenue S.W. is closed between Macleod Trail and 2 Street S.W. on Saturday, June 25 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. This closure accommodates paving, for more information on paving visit Calgary.ca/paving.

NEW: 25 Avenue S.W. is closed between Macleod Trail and 5 Street S.W. on Sunday, June 26 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. This closure accommodates paving, for more information on paving visit Calgary.ca/paving.

NEW: The cycle track and adjacent traffic lane on 5 Street S.W. is closed between 10 Avenue and 11 Avenue S.W. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, June 27 and Tuesday, June 28. During this closure, cycle track traffic will be detoured to the closed traffic lane, this closure accommodates utility work.

NEW: The right lane and adjacent sidewalk of 9 Avenue S.W. east of 14 Street S.W. is closed daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. beginning on Monday, June 27. This closure continues daily during these hours until 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 30 and accommodates utility work.

10 Avenue S.W. is reduced to a single lane between 1 Street and 2 Street S.W. beginning at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22. This closure accommodates emergency water main repairs and continues until further notice.

10 Avenue S.W. is reduced to a single lane in each direction west of 8 Street S.W. beginning at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 20. This closure continues until 3 p.m. on Friday, August 26 and accommodates Transportation Infrastructure work.

2 Street S.W. is closed between 11 Avenue S.W. and 12 Avenue S.W. beginning at 7 a.m. on 61 Avenue S.W. is reduced to one lane in both directions between Centre Street and Macleod Trail S.W. from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. beginning Friday, June 10 until Friday, June 24.

Westbound 17 Avenue S.W. is reduced to a single lane in each direction between 1 Street and 2 Street S.W. beginning at 6 a.m. on Monday, June 13. This closure continues until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6 and accommodates Transportation Infrastructure work.

The right lane of southbound 8 Street S.W. between 8 Avenue and 10 Avenue S.W. is closed beginning at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24. During the closure, the west sidewalk on 8 Street S.W. in this stretch will be closed. This closure will continue through October 2016 and accommodates work on the 8 Street S.W. underpass project.

The right lane of northbound 4 Street S.W. is closed at 15 Avenue S.W. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Tuesday, May 10. This closure continues daily during these hours until further notice and accommodates utility work.

Crowchild/Flanders Ave Interchange

  • The northbound exit ramps from Crowchild Trail S.W. to Flanders Avenue S.W. are currently closed until late 2016. Motorists will be unable to access Flanders Avenue S.W. via northbound Crowchild Trail S.W. Motorists are advised to use 33 Avenue S.W. or 50 Avenue S.W. via Crowchild Trail as alternate routes.
  • Caen Avenue (from the Currie Business Park entrance to Quesnay Wood Drive) is closed to allow for the utility work necessary for the Interchange construction. This stretch of Caen Avenue will be closed until late 2016. A temporary off-ramp provides access into the Currie Business Park, from Crowchild Trail South to Battleford Avenue.
  • Construction work has begun on Richard Road and eastbound Flanders Avenue. Traffic on Richard Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction (north and sound bound).

  • The right lane of eastbound 10 Avenue S.W. is closed east of 7 Street S.W. beginning at 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 23 through to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 26. This closure accommodates the setup of temporary bike racks for Sled Island.

Hifi / Nite Owl

  • The right lane of eastbound 10 Avenue S.W. is closed between 1 Street S.W. and 2 Street S.W. beginning at 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 23 through to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 26. This closure accommodates the setup of temporary bike racks for Sled Island.

Color Me Rad – Saturday, June 25 – 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

  • 10 Street N.W. between 5 Avenue and 16 Avenue N.W. is closed
  • Crescent Road from 13 Avenue to 2 Street N.W. is closed

One walk to Conquer Cancer – Saturday, June 25 – 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.

  • The cycle track will be closed on southbound 11 Street S.W. from 8 Avenue to 9 Avenue S.W.
