Northeast

UPDATE: Reduced lanes northbound and southbound on Barlow Trail N.E. between Country Hills Boulevard N.E. and 116 Avenue N.E. beginning on Monday, August 14 at 7 a.m. to Monday, August 21 at 7 p.m. Closure is to accommodate utility work.

NEW: Road closure on 6 Street N.E. between 16 Avenue N.E. and 17 Avenue N.E. on Saturday, August 12 from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Closure is to accommodate paving.

NEW: Reduced lanes northbound and southbound on 52 Street N.E. at Madigan Drive N.E. with reduced lanes eastbound and westbound on Madigan Drive N.E. beginning on Friday, August 11 at 7 p.m. to Monday, August 14 at 5 a.m. There will be a northbound left turn restriction with pedestrian detour indicated via signage. Closure is to accommodate utility work.

NEW: Reduced lanes eastbound and westbound on 16 Avenue N.E. at Moncton Road N.E./Russet Road N.E. beginning on Monday, August 14 to Thursday, August 17 daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be restricted parking on Moncton Road N.E. at this intersection. Closure is to accommodate utility work.

Reduced lane eastbound on Memorial Drive N.E. between 9 Street N.E. and 12 Street N.E. beginning on Tuesday, August 8 to Friday, August 11 daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Speeds will be reduced to 60 km/h through the work area. A flagman will be on site to direct traffic. Closure is to accommodate construction.

Reduced lanes eastbound 16 Avenue at Edmonton Trail N.E. weekdays starting Thursday, July 13 until Friday, August 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This work accommodates construction.

Reduced lane northbound on 52 Street N.E. at Whitehorn Drive N.E. / Temple Drive N.E. beginning on Monday, July 10 to Friday, September 1 on weekdays only daily from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Pedestrian detour will be indicated via signage. Closure is to accommodate construction.

Reduced northbound and southbound lanes on Falconridge Boulevard N.E. at Taradale Drive N.E. weekdays only from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 P.M. beginning on Tuesday, June 27 to Thursday, September 7. Pedestrian detour indicated via signage. This closure is to accommodate transit construction work.

Northwest

16 Avenue N.W. at 29 Street N.W. / Uxbridge Drive N.W. will see various lane closures until the end of October, 2017 as part of an intersection improvement project.

16 Ave NW / Bowfort Road Interchange Improvements

NEW: Road closure on eastbound 17 Avenue S.E. between 33 Street S.E. and 34 Street S.E. beginning on Friday, August 11 at 7 p.m. to Monday, August 14 at 5 a.m. Vehicle detours will be indicated via signage. Closure is to accommodate construction.

NEW: Road closure on 8 Avenue S.E. between 5 Street S.E. and 6 Street S.E. with access to local traffic only beginning on Monday, August 14 at 7 a.m. to Friday, August 18 at 7 p.m. Closure is to accommodate excavation and utility work. Use alternate routes.

NEW: Reduced lane northbound on Centre Street S, on top deck of Centre Street Bridge between Riverfront Avenue S.E. and Samis Road N.E. beginning on Saturday, August 12 to Monday, August 21 on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on weekends from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pedestrian access will be restricted on the northbound side of bridge. Closure is to accommodate overhead utility work.

NEW: Reduced lane northbound on Bonaventure Drive S.E. between Southland Drive S.E. and 94 Avenue S.E. beginning on Saturday, August 12 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and then weekdays from Monday, August 14 to Friday, August 18 daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Closure is to accommodate utility work.

NEW: Reduced lane northbound on 18 Street S.E. between Riverglen Drive S.E. and Riverbirch Crescent S.E. beginning on Monday, August 14 to Monday, November 6 weekdays only from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Closure is to accommodate construction.

Road closure southbound on 3 Street S.E. between 6 Avenue S.E. and 7 Avenue S.E. with reduced northbound lanes beginning on Tuesday, June 20 at 12:00 a.m. until Friday, September 1 at 6 p.m. Vehicle and pedestrian detours indicated via signage. This closure accommodates construction.

NEW: Road closure on westbound 8 Avenue S.W. between 10 Street S.W. and 11 Street S.W. with access to local traffic only beginning on Friday, August 11 at 9 a.m. to Sunday, August 13 at 10 p.m. This closure will also include reduced northbound lane on 11 Street S.W. at this intersection. Vehicle, cycle track and pedestrian detours will be indicated via signage. Closure is to accommodate utility work.

NEW: Road closure on 6 Street S.W. between 4 Avenue S.W. and 5 Avenue S.W. on Saturday, August 12 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Reduced lane with restricted parking will be in place on 4 Avenue S.W. at this intersection. Pedestrian and vehicle detour will be indicated via signage. Closure is to accommodate utility work.

NEW: Road closure of ramp for southbound Macleod Trail S.W. to westbound James Mckevitt Road S.W. and the ramp from eastbound James Mckevitt Road S.W. to southbound Macleod Trail S.W. beginning on Saturday, August 12 at 5 a.m. to Sunday, August 13 at 4 p.m. Closure is to accommodate construction.

NEW: Reduced lanes on southbound 37 Street S.W. between 33 Avenue S.W. and 46 Avenue S.W. on Saturday, August 12 from 5:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Closure is to accommodate paving.

NEW: Reduced lanes to a single lane on 12 Avenue S.W. between 12 Street S.W. and 13 Street S.W. on Saturday, August 12 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pedestrian detour will be indicated via signage. Restricted parking will be in place through work area. Closure is to accommodate a crane lift.

NEW: Reduced lane northbound on 11 Street S.W. between 7 Avenue S.W. and 9 Avenue S.W. beginning on Monday, August 14 at 9.am. to Friday, August 18 at 7 p.m. Closure is to accommodate utility work.

Reduced lanes on 6 Street S.W. between 4 Avenue S.W. and 5 Avenue S.W. beginning on Wednesday, August 9 to Wednesday, August 16 weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Restricted parking will be in place through the work area. Closure is to accommodate utility work.

Reduced lane southbound on 8 Street S.W. between 15 Avenue S.W. and 17 Avenue S.W. beginning on Wednesday, August 2 to Saturday, August 12 daily weekdays and Saturdays only from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This closure accommodates construction work.

Road closure on 17 Avenue S.W. between 1 Street S.E. and 2 Street S.E. with closure on 1 Street S.W. between 15 Avenue S.W. and 17 Avenue S.W. beginning on Saturday, August 5 at 7 a.m. to Sunday, October 1 at 7 p.m. Restricted parking will also be in place on 17 Avenue S.E. with vehicle detours indicated via signage. Closures are to accommodate construction.

Road closed southbound on 10 Street S.W. between 4 Avenue S.W. and 5 Avenue S.W. beginning on Tuesday, August 8 to Friday, August 18 weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. (excluding Sundays). Vehicle detour will be indicated via signage. Closure is to accommodate sidewalk installation.

Reduced lanes northbound on 11 Street S.W. between 7 Avenue S.W. and 8 Avenue S.W. beginning on Wednesday, August 2 at 9 a.m. to Monday, August 14 at 4 p.m. This closure accommodates utility work.

17 Avenue S. reconstruction project

• Road closure on 17 Avenue S.E. between 1 Street S.E. and Macleod Trail S.E. beginning on Monday, July 17 at 7 a.m. to Tuesday, August 22 at 7 p.m. Access will be open to local traffic only. Vehicle detours will be indicated via signage.
• Road closure on 17 Avenue S.E. between Centre Street S.E. and 1 Street S.E. beginning on Monday, July 17 at 7 a.m. to Monday, August 28 at 7 p.m. Access will be open to local traffic only. Vehicle detours will be indicated via signage.
• Road closure on 17 Avenue S.E. between 1 Street S.W. and Centre Street S.E. beginning on Monday, July 17 at 7 a.m. to Sunday, October 1 at 7 p.m. Access will be open to local traffic only. Vehicle detours will be indicated via signage.
• 17 Avenue will be closed to traffic between Macleod Trail and Centre Street starting May 19.

Alberta Transportation

Southwest Ring Road Project

Inglewood Night Market – Friday, August 11 from 1 p.m. to 11:55 p.m.

Road closures will be in effect at the following locations:

• 10 Street S.E. at 9 Avenue S.E.
• 10 Avenue S.E. at 11 Street S.E.
• 11 Avenue S.E. at 12 Street S.E.
• Roadway will be open to local traffic only on 10 Avenue S.E. at 12 Street S.E.
• Please watch for pedestrians as parking is restricted in the area.

Lake Chaparral Kids of Steel Triathlon – Saturday, August 12 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.

There will be reduced lanes for cyclists along the following route:

• Chaparral Drive S.E. east/west from Chaparral Park S.E. to Chaparral Boulevard S.E.
• Chaparral Drive S.E. south from east/west Chaparral Drive S.E. to Chapala Way S.E.
• Chapala Way S.E. from Chapala Drive S.E. to Chaparral Boulevard S.E.
• Chaparral Boulevard S.E. from Chapala Way S.E. to Chaparral Drive S.E.
• There will be restricted parking along the route beginning on Saturday, August 12 at 6 a.m. to Sunday, August 13 at 3 p.m.

Lake Chaparral Triathlon – Sunday, August 13 from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.

There will be reduced right lanes in both directions along route to accommodate cyclists and runners as follows:

• 194 Avenue S.E. from Chaparral Valley Drive S.E. to Chaparral Drive S.E./Walden Gate S.E.
• Chaparral Drive S.E./Walden Gate S.E. from 194 Avenue S.E. to Chapala Drive S.E.
• Chapala Drive S.E. from Chaparral Drive S.E. to 194 Avenue S.E.
• There will be restricted parking along the route beginning on Saturday, August 12 at 6 a.m. to Sunday, August 13 at 3 p.m.

Marda Gras Street Festival – Sunday, August 13 from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Road closures will be in effect at the following locations:

• 33 Avenue S.W. between 18 Street S.W. and 22 Street S.W.
• 19 Street S.E. thru 21 Street S.E. between 32 Avenue S.E. and 34 Avenue S.E. with access to local traffic only at 32 Avenue S.E.
• Vehicle detours will be indicated via signage
• Marshals will be at road closures
• Expect major delays on 34 Avenue S.E. between 18 Street S.E. and 22 Street S.E. due to restricted parking in the area and a high volume of pedestrians
• Motorists are advised to use alternative routes or to take Calgary Transit during the Festival

Country Thunder – Sunday, August 18 at 6 a.m. to Tuesday, August 22 at 6 p.m.

54 Avenue N.E. will be closed between Westwinds Drive N.E. and 44 Street N.E.

• There will be restricted parking at this location to accommodate vehicles and equipment required to complete the setup of the event grounds.
• Vehicle detours will be indicated via signage.

Globalfest International Fireworks Competition

The following road closures will be in effect to accommodate the GlobalFest International Fire Works Competition. All closures will be in effect on August 18, 20, 23, 25, and 27.

• 17 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 52 Street S.E. and 68 Street S.E. will be closed to all traffic from approximately 7:00 p.m. to midnight each evening.
• 23 Avenue S.E. be closed from 52 Street S.E. to 60 Street S.E. and 60 Street S.E. will be closed from 17 Avenue S.E. to 23 Avenue S.E. from 6 p.m. to midnight each evening.
• Hubalta Road / 21A Avenue will be closed from 52 Street S.E. to 17 Avenue S.E. from 6:00 p.m. to midnight each evening to accommodate parking.

Motorists will be directed to Memorial Drive via 68 Street S.E. (for westbound traffic) and 52 Street S.E. (for eastbound traffic) to bypass the closure. Signs will be posted to help direct traffic around the area.

Motorists are to observe all traffic controls advising of this closure. Major delays are expected. The Transportation Department would like to thank motorists and local residents for their patience and understanding throughout this event.

• Access for businesses located along 17 Avenue S.E between 52 Street S.E. and Hubalta Road S.E. will be available via 52 Street S.E. and 21A Avenue S.E with a valid permit.
• Access for business located along 23 Avenue S.E. between 52 Street S.E. and 60 Street S.E. and 60 Street S.E. between 17 Avenue S.E. and 23 Avenue S.E. available via 52 Street S.E. and 23 Avenue S.E. with a valid permit.
