Calgary Fire Department responds to building fire on Seton CR. S.E.

At approximately 19:00 hours on Sunday evening, the Calgary Fire Department responded to reports of a building fire at Seton Cr S.E. Responding crews arrived and reported a large volume of smoke coming from a movie theatre currently under construction. A second alarm was immediately struck to deal with large volumes of heavy smoke, and the size of the building. This brought approximately 13 pieces apparatus and 50 firefighters to the scene.

Crews were unable to enter the building initially and therefore deployed aerials to deliver large volumes of water to the fire from above. The cold weather required crews to limit their time outside, resulting in rotating crews throughout the night.

Crews will remain on scene for the night. Investigators are also on scene, and beginning preliminary investigations.

If anybody has any information, photos or video, especially prior to CFD arrival on scene, please email piofire@calgary.ca
