Calgary Fire Department Responds to a 2 Alarm Fire in Willow Park

Just after 5 pm this afternoon, Calgary 911 received multiple calls for a house fire in the 300 block of Wainwright Road SE.

The Calgary Fire Department was dispatched and first arriving crews were met with a significant amount of smoke and flames coming from a single story residence.

Crews combined an aggressive interior attack with exterior hose lines deployed to protect exposed structures. Two occupants of the home had self evacuated and a cat was removed from the home after being discovered by searching crews. A second alarm was called for due to difficult fire conditions including downed power lines and a flowing natural gas line. The fire was quickly brought under control but there was significant damage to the home as well as some damage to the neighboring home. No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.

ATCO and Enmax were called to the scene to control the utilities. CPS and AHS crews were also on scene to assist.

Calgary Fire Department crews, including a Fire Investigator, remain on scene to ensure there is no extension and to determine the cause and origin of the fire.

The Calgary Fire Department would like to ask citizens that have photos, video or information regarding this fire, especially prior to the Fire Departments arrival, to email piofire@calgary.ca
