Calgary Fire Department Responds to a House Fire in Applewood

At approximately 4:00 this morning the Calgary Fire department (CFD) was alerted to a possible house fire by a patrolling CPS unit on Applewood Lane SE.

On arrival crews were met with smoke and a small amount of fire in a townhouse suite. Crews conducted an aggressive interior fire attack and search and were able to quickly extinguish the fire. 1 adult was transported by AHS to hospital with smoke related injuries. 5 adjacent suites were evacuated as a precaution.

Calgary Fire Department crews including an Investigator remain on scene to ensure there is no fire extension and to determine the cause and origin of the fire.

CPS and AHS were also on scene to assist.

ATCO and ENMAX were called to the scene to control the flow of utilities to the suite.

The Calgary Fire Department reminds citizens that smoke and CO alarms help save lives and would like to see them installed, maintained and regularly tested in all homes,
