Calgary Fire Department Responds to a Fire in Tuxedo Park

At approximately 1115 this morning, Calgary Fire Department crews were alerted to a reported building fire in the 100 block of 27ave NW.

Arriving crews were met by a large volume of smoke and flames coming from the second story of a three story apartment.

Calgary Fire crews initiated a rapid, aggressive interior attack and search of a second story suite. The fire was brought quickly under control and was contained to the suite. One occupant of the suite was removed by firefighters who started administering CPR before transferring patient care to waiting AHS crews. The patient was transported to hospital by AHS with firefighters assisting. Four occupants of the building were able to self evacuate prior to the Fire Departments arrival.

Calgary Fire Department crews, including a Fire Investigator remain on scene to ensure that there is no fire extension as well as to determine the cause and origin of the fire.

CPS and AHS crews are also on scene to assist.

The Calgary Fire Department reminds all citizens to ensure that they have working smoke and CO alarms.
