Calgary Fire Department Rescues Occupant from Hanging Position on Bridge Deck

At approximately 10:48 Calgary Fire Crews responded to a single vehicle collision at 3146 Symons Valley PY NW. The first arriving units encountered a four door sedan that had lost control - resulting in the vehicle leaving the roadway and ending up in a hanging position on the bridge decking. Firefighters had to secure the car using chains and a motorized winch system, once the scene was stabilized the doors had to be removed and the dash displaced in order to extricate the passenger from the vehicle. Care of the patient was transferred to on scene EMS personnel and he was transported to the area hospital with undetermined injuries. Traffic in the area was shut down during the operation and at present the incident is still under investigation.
