Calgary Fire Department fights house fire in Rundle

At approximately 8:40 this morning, Calgary firefighters were called to the 200 block of Rundleview Drive NE for reports of a house fire. On arrival, fire crews saw heavy dark smoke coming from the home. Firefighters, upon entry into the home, could not hear any activated smoke alarms. One individual living downstairs, was unaware of the fire and needed to be evacuated by firefighters. Fire crews quickly extinguished the flames, keeping fire damage contained to the room of origin. The rest of the home did however sustain significant smoke damage. No injuries were reported as a result of this fire.  Four people and a dog have been temporarily displaced. A Calgary Fire Department fire investigator is on scene to determine the origin and cause. CEMA (Calgary Emergency Management Agency) and Red Cross are on scene to assist the displaced residents.
