Calgary Fire Department Extinguishes Fire in the Hamptons

At approximately 8:00 pm this evening, the Calgary Fire Department responded to a residential fire alarm activation in the 100 block of Hampshire Grove NW. Signs of smoke and flames were not easily visible from the outside by the first arriving fire crew, but an investigation revealed fire on the main floor. Forcible entry was required to gain entry into the structure, as no one was at home at the time. Firefighters initiated an aggressive interior attack to contain the fire to the kitchen area, with no further extension. High capacity fans were used to pressurize the home and remove residual smoke from the structure. There were no pets in the home and no injuries as the house was unoccupied at the time of the alarm. The home owners have not yet been contacted. Investigators remain on scene and have not yet determined the cause of the fire.

The Calgary Fire Department would like to remind citizens that working smoke alarms can help save lives.
