Calgary Fire Department battles two alarm house fire in Martindale NE

At 04:00 this morning, the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) responded to reports of a house fire on Martindale Dr NE.

Prior to arriving on scene, the first responding fire crew called a second alarm which doubles the number of apparatus and firefighters responding to the incident. Upon arrival, firefighters were faced with two fully involved houses in addition to two detached garages which were also on fire.

With the additional support of the second alarm, command started a coordinated aggressive attack from both the street and back alley. The fires were quickly brought under control by utilizing two aerial platforms and large volumes of water. Some minor siding damage was sustained by an adjacent house.

There were no injuries reported however damage to the involved homes is extensive. A total of seven people have been displaced. At the present time crews still remain on scene looking for hot spots. The investigation into the orogin and cause will commence once the area is deemed safe.
