This morning, just before 11, Calgary Fire Department Crews responded to reports of a fully involved garage fire in the 100 block of Pensacola Close SE. First arriving crews were met with a well involved fire that had spread from the detached garage to the close proximity house. Due to the size of the fire and the structures involved, the incident commander called for a second alarm to augment crews and resources on scene. Crews made an aggressive interior attack to the residence but due to the damage to the garage, a defensive attack taken on that structure. There is substantial damage to both structures and the residents will not be able to re occupy their home. At this time crews remain on scene extinguishing hot spots and will be remaining for some time.

Investigators are commencing their investigation into the cause of the fire. There were no reported injuries and crews successfully rescued 3 family pets, a rabbit and 2 cats.
