Calgary Fire Crews Respond to Fire in Bridgeland

At approximately 1:25 pm, Calgary Fire Department (CFD) crews responded to reports of a structure fire in the 400 block of 2nd Ave NE.

Upon arrival, fire crews quickly gained access to the apartment building and noticed smoke on the second floor. Crews were able to confirm a small contents fire in one of the suites was extinguished by the interior sprinkler system. Fire was out upon CFD’s arrival.

23 residents from the apartment building were evacuated and assessed by AHS. Building management is on scene to assess residents’ needs. Residents will be allowed to return once CFD ensures air quality is not a concern.

CPS provided scene security and traffic control.

The apartment did have working smoke alarms which alerted residents to the incident.

A fire investigator remains on scene conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
