Calgary fire crews quickly extinguish Dover house fire

Just before 4:30 on Monday afternoon, July 30, 9-1-1 received multiple calls reporting a house fire on Dover Ridge Court S.E. One caller reported a tree in the backyard fully engulfed in flames with fire quickly spreading to the porch and up the back of the structure.

Three adults safely evacuated the home prior to CFD arrival on scene. A dog was rescued by firefighters from the burning home and was then assessed by both firefighters and EMS. The dog is doing well and is now back with his owners.

A live power line was also found down on the property prompting Enmax to respond and shut off power to the area.

Fire crews quickly got the fire under control and are extinguishing hot spots as well as doing salvage and overhaul. There is fire damage to the rear of the home, the main floor interior and the attic space.

Fire watch will be in place for the night and a fire investigator is on scene to determine the exact origin and cause of the fire. It is unknown at this time if there were working smoke alarms in the house.
