Calgary fire crews fight house fire after a truck drives into the home

At approximately 10:40 on Thursday evening, fire crews responded to the 5800 block of 4 Avenue N.E. for reports of a building fire. On arrival, firefighters found a pick-up truck which had collided with a house causing significant structural damage.

Fire crews quickly fought the fire and conducted a search of the residence. Six occupants had self evacuated the home immediately after the collision and prior to CFD arrival at the scene. The Fire Department heavy rescue team was also called on to shore up unstable areas of the home, especially in and around the vehicle to prevent further damage or collapse.

Atco Gas and Enmax were called to the incident to  disconnect utilities to the house.  A fire investigator is also on scene to determine the exact cause of the fire.
