Calgary fire crews fight early morning pub fire

Shortly after 07:00 this morning, Calgary fire crews were called to a pub at the 100 block of 94 Avenue S.E. for reports of a fire. The call to 911 was made by the alarm company because detectors and sprinklers in the business had reportedly activated.

On arrival, crews saw smoke coming from the roof of the building. Firefighters quickly forced entry into the building and launched an aggressive interior attack, bringing the fire under control. They successfully contained the damage to the business of origin. Damage within the business is concentrated to the kitchen area with smoke damage throughout.

Nobody was in the business when fire crews arrived and performed a search and no injuries were reported as a result of this fire. A Calgary Department Fire Investigator is on scene to determine the exact origin and cause of this fire. Part of that investigation will also include whether all fire and life safety systems worked as they should.

It is expected that the pub will be closed for at least several days while repairs and cleanup are completed.
