Calgary fire crews extinguish north east house fire

At 11:40 this morning, Calgary fire crews were called to a house on Whiteview Close N.E. for reports of a house fire. A neighbour who was home at the time, saw dark smoke coming from behind a nearby house and immediately called  9-1-1. She stated that she knew it was not just a backyard fire due to the dark nature of the smoke along with the smell of burnt plastic.

On arrival, fire crews found smoke and flames visible at the rear of the bungalow. At the same time, one of the residents of the home had also arrived and quickly let his three dogs out of the front of the house. Firefighters fought the fire from the back and cut holes in the roof to access fire which had made its way into the attic.

The fire was quickly brought under control and firefighters prevented the spread of fire to neighbouring homes. There is significant damage to the source house as a result of the fire.

No injuries were reported and a Calgary Fire Department fire investigator is on scene to determine the origin and cause of this fire. Two adults, two children and three dogs are displaced at this time.
