Calgary Fire Crews Extinguish Killarney House Fire

At approximately 4:25 this afternoon, The Calgary Fire Department responded to the 3000 block of 28 Street SW for reports of a possible structure fire. On arrival crews were met with flames and smoke coming from a main floor window of an up/down duplex. Due to the extent of fire, crews applied water from the outside of the structure prior to making entry to search for possible victims. It was confirmed that the main floor was unoccupied at the time and that a tenant in the lower suite had self evacuated prior to arrival. Due to extensive damage, crews remain on scene monitoring hot spots. There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
