Calgary Fire Crews Extinguish Basement Fire in Dover

At approximately 8:10 this morning, the Calgary Fire Department responded to multiple reports of a house fire in the 200 block of Dovertree Place SE. When fire crews arrived at the four-plex residential structure, smoke was showing from the basement windows.

Firefighters made a quick entry from the rear of the building, making their way through thick smoke to the basement and the room where it appears the fire may have started. The interior fire crews quickly knocked down the fire, limiting damage to the room's contents. The residence sustained very little structural damage with some smoke damage to the main level.

The number of occupants is unknown at this time. Calgary Fire Department crews remained on scene for some time conducting salvage and overhaul operations. There were no reports of injuries at the incident. The Fire Investigator attended to determine the exact origin and cause of this fire. A fire crew will stay at the scene during the day for fire watch.
