Calgary fire crews battle condo fire in Killarney

At approximately 6:50 this morning, 911 received multiple calls for a building fire on the 1900 block of 35 Street SW. On arrival, there was smoke showing from the four unit two story condominium building. Nine people were originally evacuated from the building and sheltered at a nearby restaurant. Residents were alerted to the fire by working smoke alarms in the building. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire confining damage to the unit and room of origin. The other three units were unaffected by the fire and those residents will be allowed to re-enter. Three people will not be going home due to the moderate damage from smoke and fire to their unit. No injuries were reported as a result of this fire and fire investigators will be investigating the origin and cause.
