Calgary fire crews battle 2 alarm warehouse fire in south east

Just before 10:00 this morning, Calgary fire crews were dispatched to the 6400 block of 30 Street S.E. for reports of a building fire. A driver passing through the area called 9-1-1 stating that he saw flames and smoke coming from the building.

On arrival, the first arriving engine crew saw large volumes of smoke and flames coming from different sides of the building as well as the roof. The Captain called for a second alarm due to the size of the warehouse along with visible fire conditions.

Crews initially fought the fire defensively due the dangerous conditions inside. Once the fire was brought under control, firefighters were able to gain entry and continue fighting the fire. An interior search was then also completed to look for any occupants.

There were no reports of injuries as a result of the fire. A Calgary Fire Department fire investigator is on scene to determine the origin and cause of this fire.

If anybody has any information, photos or video regarding this incident, especially prior to CFD arrival on scene, please email piofire@calgary.ca
