Evan

Church

Both Jordan & Evan had a deep walk with God. Prayer, Bible reading, and living their faith out in practical ways was what made these boys so special.

Jordan & Evan attended Rocky Mountain Calvary Chapel with their family since birth. They were very involved in the weekly youth group and had dozens of very close friends that regularly spent time with. Jordan & Evan would often help with planning and serving in various events. When they in Grade 5 they portrayed 2 grumpy old men in a very memorable Christmas production.

School

Westmount Charter School from Grade 5 to Grade 12.

Westmount Charter School (with his brother) from Grade 5 to Grade 11. Moved to Ernest Manning in Feb 2015 to take specialized PRE-Engineering classes.

School Involvements

President of Student Council.

Much beloved by the kids in grade 5 and up. He made huge efforts to build relationships with each student and to encourage everyone’s involvement in the student body.

Communications Director in Grade 10 and 11.

Model UN + Debate club + Mock Trials in Calgary

Involved in ‘everything’.

Founded a guitar club at Westmount Charter School.

Responsible for the morning announcements over the PA system every day at Ernest Manning. He added fun and school spirit to the announcements each day!

Was part of the FIRST Robotics Team competition.

Scholarship

Straight A student all throughout school.

Example: Jordan got 100% on his math 30 diploma (even though he did NOT like Math)

One of 300 Loran scholarship national finalists.

Had his sights set on Western University Ivy School of Business (Arts/business degree)

Was working on many other scholarships.

Straight A student all throughout school.

Evan got 96% on his math 30 diploma.

On Tuesday he was offered a full scholarship at Queen’s University. He was waiting to hear from a few other universities.

He had his sights set on getting an engineering degree followed by a degree in physics.

Sports & Activities

Both avid readers.

Loved hiking in the mountains, camping, mountain biking.

-Evan enjoyed basketball and weightlifting and was a passionate guitar player.

-Jordan taught himself to unicycle over the course of the last 2 summers. He and Jesse Hettinga used to unicycle together. Jordan would walk the dog while on a unicycle.

Volunteering

In addition to above.

Jordan worked with a volunteer organization called CANAVUA that provides car rides and translation to refugees and new Canadians who needed to visit the doctor or the dentist.

Jordan tutored about 6 kids in Spanish.

In the 2013 flood they drove downtown and walked into the mission area and just began to help the first homeowners they found.

Jordan volunteered at Camp Chestermere for the past 2 years. Loved being a camp counselor and cabin leader.

Canadian Cancer relay for life participants.

Worked annually on Samaritan’s purse operation Christmas child “packing parties” to fill hundreds of shoe boxes.

Each boy sponsored a child with Compassion Canada and wrote letters to their sponsored child.

Evan was on the frontlines of meeting the new Syrian refugees. He played guitar and taught English songs at the refugee centre every week for the new arrivals.

His work was through I-AM, Institute for Accent Modification.

In the 2013 flood they drove downtown and walked into the mission area and just began to help the first homeowners they found.

Evan worked at camp TeePee Pole in the Sundre area and was a cabin leader and camp counselor for boys.

Employment

Boys had numerous jobs since 14 and even started & ran their own neighborhood snow removal & lawn care business for 2 years called. VIP services.

Other jobs included:
